The announcement was preceded by His Royal Highness addressing a letter to the AMU concerning the possibility for adopting a new Charter with clauses regarding the preservation of Antarctica and ecologic issues, and was published days after the AMU Administrative-General invited the Distinguished Representative of Flandrensis to present his draft for the new AMU Charter, according to his vision of the AMU goals. Unfortunately, rather than doing so, His Royal Highness accused the AMU of disinterest in ecologic problems.
The Antarctic Micronational Union finds it very saddening that His Royal Highness refused to elaborate his own proposal, which raises questions as to why it was made in the first place; we furthermore are deeply concerned with his sharing of emails from the AMU group with third parties, which shows clear lack of respect towards the remaining AMU members.
Nonetheless, out of respect for the Flandrensis's role in the establishment of the Antarctic Micronational Union, the former Flandrensisian claims ( Siple Island, Cherry Island, Maher Island, Pranke Island, and Carney Island) will be marked as grey on the new AMU map and will not be available for reclaiming by the new members. We wish His Royal Highness all the best in the future development of Flandrensis and hope that despite this unfortunate turn of events, the AMU and the Grand Duchy would eventually be able to establish collaboration in the fields of mutual interest.
